Worlds Inc. Is Awarded Fourth “Virtual Worlds” Patent

Boston, MA, May 17, 2011 – Worlds, Inc. (OTC BB:WDD), announced today that it has been issued U.S. Patent No. 7945856 titled “System and Method for Enabling Users to Interact in a Virtual Space.” This is the fourth patent in the Worlds IP portfolio.

The Patent relates to computer architecture for a three-dimensional graphical multi-user interactive virtual world system. Such systems are utilized in Massive Multi-Player Online Games (MMORPG) of the type known as Graphical Multi-Dimension (GMUD) games, which provide a graphical representation of the player’s character (avatar) wherein movement of the character in virtual space alters what the character views.

“Worlds is continuing to build a strong intellectual property portfolio which reflects Worlds pioneering efforts beginning in 1994 to the 3D online community,” said Thom Kidrin, Worlds’ CEO. “We are very pleased with this result particularly in light of the prior art submitted to the patent office in our settlement of the NC Soft litigation.”

The Patent further expands World’s patent portfolio. Worlds has 4 additional patent continuations in process at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) This Patent is a continuation of U.S. Patent No. 7,181,690 issued to Worlds.com in 2007 and bearing the same title.

Kidrin stated “This new patent significantly strengthens our patent protection for technology and processes developed by Worlds over the past 15 years. We are discussing enforcement options with legal experts and patent law firms and will have a statement and strategy to announce shortly. The new patent and continuance claims in process support our announced intentions for all Worlds IP to remain within Worlds Inc. while our online operations, software assets and technology platform have been spun off into the Worlds Online subsidiary which should become effective with the SEC within 30 – 45 days.”
